Are you in lockdown?
Here in Auckland, we are in our 5th week of mandatory lockdown, although mine started a bit earlier with two weeks of self-isolation after returning home from an overseas conference on March 12th. In short, I haven\’t left my home since that date and am so grateful to be going through this experience in this era of technology where we can be isolated in our bubbles yet still connected with world.
I know that many of us had ideas about how we would utilise our Lockdown time in those early days. We were going to completely sort our homes, write books, learn new skills and get fit. The reality though is that many of us have actually gained weight, (yours truly included lol!) and have struggled to balance work or job hunting, with Netflix binges and lethargy. What\’s more, many people have now started beating themselves up, telling themselves how useless they are because they are not being more productive, haven\’t learned a new skill, haven\’t read a book let alone written one and are struggling to get through each day overseeing their kid\’s schoolwork in their increasingly messy home.
If you are one of these people, I\’m here to encourage you that you have NOT \”failed quarantine!\”
There is no right or wrong as to how people deal with this unusual experience, and someone\’s situation in their bubble alone or with just their partner is always going to be different to someone locked in with a tribe of children.
I filmed this off the cuff live video recently for my both my Facebook page and the Rocking Midlife™ group where we ran a series of \”Lockdown Lives\” (you can find them by clicking the \”Lockdown Live\” tag in the topics section once inside the group.) I hope that it encourages you to stay strong and be encouraged that you can\’t \”fail\” quarantine.
With lots of love from my bubble to yours,
