Redefining Menopause!
I’m enjoying my life, post-menopause, so much. It’s just so great to grow into yourself, and not be bothered with all that tyranny of biology – Roseanne Barr
For this week’s episode of the Rocking Midlife® Podcast, I had the pleasure of sitting down with London-based Rachel Lankester. Rachel is not only a fabulous author, (whose book is on the recommended New York Times list for books about menopause) but a mentor and podcast host of Magnificent Midlife, an online hub celebrating and empowering women in their 40s and beyond.
During our conversation, we discussed the negative perception about menopause held by so many in western cultures. Rachel shared how this isn’t the case in other cultures, and explained how we should instead embrace menopause as a natural phase of life and not an “illness” needing medical intervention. She also shared her journey through menopause, along with tips she has discovered from both experience and research.
Perhaps the main core them of our conversation was this: it’s time to alleviate the anxiety associated with menopause and ageing, and instead, celebrate this new season in life!
