30 Inspirational Quotes about Growing Old
We don’t stop playing because we grow old.
We grow old because we stop playing.”
∼ George Bernard Shaw
Perhaps one of the best things about growing old is that we are not the first to face this journey.
Right?!
We get to benefit from the insight and wisdom of those who have gone before us, and what I find truly wonderful, is that numerous people throughout history have shared their thoughts and advice about growing old and there is so much we can learn from them.
I love inspirational quotes, and as I was feeling my age a bit more than usual today following a trip to the optometrist, (yep, new glasses needed *sigh!* ) I decided to encourage myself by reading some positive quotes about growing old.
Instead of one or two however, I found literally dozens of powerful quotes, so decided to choose 30 inspirational quotes about aging that really spoke to me. I’ll be posting them throughout my yearly planner – particularly around my birthday which is always a time of reflection about age. I didn’t want to keep the inspiration to myself though, so read on and be encouraged by the words of wisdom from people who chose to grow old positively, making the most of every season of their life.

HI Cat!
This came at a good time! I have been feeling not great lately about a few things in my life, and I just love these quotes! George Burns was great, love his quote! Really, I will continue to be silly, dance, and do what I like as I age. It really is about being who you are and not feeling like you have to “act” a certain way because of your age- child-like play and fun is important! I also appreciate the gift that is given, which is every day here on Earth.
Thanks for this uplifting post!

Hi there Jess, sorry that you haven’t been feeling good, but isn’t it wonderful that we can be encouraged by those who have gone before?
I agree with you too – we need to throw out the “rules” of how we should be presenting ourselves as older women, and instead live our lives to the fullest with passion and purpose. Big hugs! x
Oh, these are fabulous and I love how you have such a wide range of people. I use a quote every day on my blog because they are packed full of goodness.

These are some of my faves, weirdly they were all in a row. Life is definitely becoming more beautiful, richer, and after hitting 50, I decided I’ll stick around for a while yet. ❤️❤️❤️
